What your assigned requirement may ask for
- An official vaccination receipt or immunization record
- The date and product for each dose being used as evidence
- Any current dose required by your program or placement

Current guidance
NACI's guidance starting in fall 2026 strongly recommends COVID-19 immunization programs for people at increased risk of exposure or severe disease, including health care workers and other care providers in facilities and community settings. Most populations are recommended to receive one dose per year. Some higher-risk groups are recommended to receive two doses per year, at least three months apart.
Vaccination reduces the risk of severe illness and also reduces the risk of infection, but it does not eliminate either risk. Provincial programs and placement sites decide how the guidance is applied locally.
CareCard validity
CareCard's current catalogue default keeps the vaccination record without an expiry date. That default describes document tracking, not a lifetime clinical recommendation. The date or dose rule on your assigned requirement controls.
