Accessibility at CareCard

Our commitment

CareCard’s product-wide accessibility target is WCAG 2.2 Level AA, the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines published as a W3C standard. We use these testable requirements to guide development and accessibility testing.

We are committed to meeting the accessibility obligations that apply to CareCard under Ontario’s Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 (AODA).

Accessibility features

Accessibility support in CareCard includes the following features:

  • Keyboard controls: password visibility buttons in sign-in and profile forms, and public website navigation menus, can be reached and operated with the keyboard.

  • Named dialogs and focus handling: shared dashboard form dialogs expose their titles to assistive technology and manage focus when opened and closed.

  • Descriptive labels and states: password and menu controls have localized accessible names; menu controls expose whether navigation is open. The website’s readiness preview exposes one named progress value.

  • Skip to content: the article library and article pages provide keyboard links that move focus directly to their main content.

  • Diagram information: the technical documentation’s database diagrams provide table and relationship descriptions, with keyboard arrow controls for moving tables.

Testing and improvement

Accessibility improvements are supported by documented component tests, keyboard checks and automated accessibility scans. These checks help verify control names, navigation, focus handling and other changes in the tested workflows.

Your feedback helps us prioritize accessibility improvements.
